Essence of Tanba is a smooth-sippin’ futusu-shu and embodies the craft of the Tanba Toji, the indigenous Toji Guild of Hyogo Prefecture, whose mastery refined cloudy brews into pure, clear sake through historic innovations.
A warming and round aroma greats the drinker. Apple crumble, cocoa nibs, yoghurt, cooked pear & macarons are all present and come alive if you’re a little daring and warm Essence of Tanba into 40-50 degrees C.
Body is smooth but robust with rich umami, honest sweetness and a woody grip. Porridge and brown sugar along with coconut & cooked apple are on the palate. This sake is an exceptional companion for dining, pairing beautifully with hearty dishes such as Yakitori, grilled eel (kabayaki), sweet & sour pork, peppery dishes (hello tebasaki!).
